PM urged to contest CA election from Morang-4
Biratnagar, September 13:
The Morang chapter of the Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to urge party president and Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala to file his candidacy for constituent assembly election from constituency No-4.
Koirala has contested previous elections from constituency No-1 of the district. The NC district working committee decided to urge him to file the candidacy from constituency No-4
after the regional committee strongly demanded Koirala’s candidacy.
While there are currently nine constituencies in Morang, there were seven in previous elections.
The decision to urge the PM to contest from constituency No-4 was taken as most of the VDCs that were in constituency No-1 now fall under constituency No-4, the NC Morang said.
Morang NC secretary Pitambar Dahal said, “Though it has been decided to urge Koirala to file his candidacy from constituency No-4, cadres from all constituencies want PM as their candidate.”
“As some of the VDCs considered as Koirala’s stronghold are now in constituency No-4, we demand PM’s candidacy from here,” regional committee president Gayananda Mandal said.
Takuwa, Rangeli, Darbesa, Babiyabirta, Sorabhag, Amahiwariyat, Kadmaha, Dadarbaiya and Thalaha VDCs fall in constituency No-4. Rangeli and Takuwa are considered Koirala’s stronghold.
There are 65,186 voters in constituency No-4. Regional committees of NC have completed recommending names of candidates for the polls and NC Morang said that it will forward its recommendation to the centre on September 16.
