Bus entrepreneurs halt Pokhara bus services for 3 hours

POKHARA: The Pokhara Bus Entrepreneurs Committee on Tuesday halted bus services for three hours in the Lake City of Kaski district protesting the decision of the Gandaki Transportation Management Office to give route permit to a new transport committee to operate passenger buses in Pokhara.

Yesterday, the representatives of Pokhara Bus Entrepreneurs Committee, among others, obstructed and vandalised one of the vehicles of the Bindhyabasini Bus Entrepreneurs Committee at Prithvichok.

Though the Pokhara Bus Entrepreneurs Committee halted the bus services in the Lake City today, taxis and buses belonging to other committees have operated their services.

Buses belonging to the Pokhara Bus Entrepreneurs Committee have been parked in their parking station in a bid to make the protest successful.

Following the protest, passengers were forced to travel paying higher fares.

“No one can impose syndicate system in the transport sector,” said Hari Prasad Mainali, Chief District Officer of the district.

He defended the rights of Bindhyabasini Bus Entrepreneurs Committee to operate the vehicles.

The Pokhara Bus Entrepreneurs Committee had started protest Programmes since Monday across the Pokhara City.
