Pokhara to reconstruct 100 houses in a year

Pokhara Metropolitan City has decided to reconstruct 100 houses within a year.

As per the agreement, Kamana Bank and Lumanti Group will provide 10 million rupees each as assistance for the housing programme run by the metropolis.

“We’ve a target to build 100 homes in a year. For it we will provide a loan of Rs 400,000 rupees for each of those houses,” said a representative of Kamana Development Bank, adding the loan must be paid back in seven years. “Our target is to help construction of quake-resilient houses at minimum cost,” he said, adding anyone paying back the loan before seven years’ deadline will get concession.

The metropolis, as per the housing programme, has constructed and repaired some 690 houses so far, said programme coordinator Rabindra Adhikari.

According to Adhikari, the total cost of the repair and construction of the houses stand at 212 million rupees.
