KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 10

Police have arrested six individuals from various regions of the country for their involvement in the possession of illegal substances.

Kanchanpur: Police arrested Harish Regmi (25) of Motipur in Belauri Municipality-3 from Sadak Ghat in Belauri-10, where he was found in possession of 9.420 grams of a substance resembling heroin on Saturday afternoon. The arrest occurred as Regmi was returning to Nepal from India on a motorcycle (Su.Pa.Pra. 03 001 Pa 0456) during a routine police checking.

Similarly, Hikmat Hamal (26) of Belauri-10 Shivnagar was arrested on Saturday evening after being found with 47.85 grams of a substance resembling heroin in Kalkatta Bazaar, Belauri-8. Hamal was stopped for checking after he displayed suspicious behavior while walking along the road. He was arrested after the illegal substance was discovered in his possession.

Kailali: In Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-1, Sanjiv Chaudhary (21) was arrested on Saturday evening for possessing brown sugar weighing 730 mg. The arrest took place during a police checking at Baluwaghat in Dhagadi-2 when Chaudhary was returning to Nepal from India.

Jhapa: Police detained two individuals on Saturday morning in Khayardangi Shanti Chowk of Mechinagar Municipality-10. Ashok Nembang (19) of Mechinagar-9 was found with 200 mg of a substance resembling brown sugar and Rs 4,000 in cash, while Dipa Chaudhary (30) of Mechinagar-10 had 1.550 grams of the substance and Rs 3,000 in cash. The arrests followed a police raid conducted based on information regarding ongoing drug transactions in the area.

Makawanpur: Ganesh Thapa (35) of Jalki in Kailash Rural Municipality-1 was arrested in Rajaiya of Manahari Rural Municipality-9 with 50 kg of marijuana on Sunday morning. Thapa's arrest occurred during a vehicle inspection, where the illegal substance was discovered inside his parked car (Ba. 6 cha. 1847).

Further investigations into these cases are ongoing, police said.
