JAJARKOT: Police have arrested a 19 year old girl on Friday on charges of drowning her newborn child calling the baby a product of “an illegitimate relationship.”

Sabita Pun of Nalgad Municipality-1 studying at Shiva Commercial Secondary School in Bheri Municipality-1 gave birth on May 9, 2018 and drowned the infant in Bheri River the next morning. The locals upon finding out about the incident informed the police, who then took Pun into custody, informed District Police Office, Jajarkot.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police at DPO, Bhawesh Rimal, police are investigating into the case and process for legal action on the suspect would be initiated upon completion of the investigation.
