RAUTAHAT: Police on Sunday arrested separatist leader CK Raut from District Court Rautahat on charges of speechifying secessionist statements.

Raut who was summoned by the court was arrested by police following the court session, informed officials.

Superintendent of Police (SP) and Chief of Rautahat Police Kedar Dhakal said that Raut was arrested for his statement on treason. It is said that a case on treason would be filed against him.

The police have reportedly also detained his four-year-old daughter Rewati, his driver Rameshwor Yadav and helper Sanjaya Yadav.

A Cambridge PHD holder, Raut has time and again dragged himself into political controversy after advocating for an independent Madesh.
