KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 1
Police personnel resorted to the use of force to disperse NCP cadres belonging to Dahal-Nepal faction of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) as the latter attempted to obstruct Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel's movement in Nuwakot, on Monday.
It has been learnt that Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister for Defence Pokharel had journeyed to Nuwakot, this morning, to address a programme amid which party workers of Dahal-Nepal led splinter group of the NCP began chanting slogans to demonstrate against him, also attempting to block his way.
"Police began to charge batons to disperse the crowd that was attempting to obstruct the DPM's path," stated Nuwakot Police.
Following the formal rupture of NCP after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced the dissolution of House of Representatives (HoR), tussle between the splinter groups is further widening. Top leaders of the factions are frequently seen taking turns to discredit their contemporaries, in episodes of one-upping and mudslinging agendas.
