Police constable thrashes woman

Rajbiraj, February 24

A woman sustained injuries after a police constable thrashed her at Chhinamasta Rural Municipality in Saptari today.

The woman was beaten after she refused to pay customs duty. The constable of Armed Police Force Tilathi Base Camp Dipendra Jha had thrashed Aruna Devi Yadav of Barahi Birpur in Chhinamastha Rural Municipality.

The injured woman is undergoing treatment at Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital. Health workers at the zonal hospital said the woman received a deep cut on her chest and nose.

The woman said Jha demanded Rs 500 as she was carrying goods from Kunauli, India. “The police constable thrashed me after I refused to give him the amount,” she said. She claimed that she refused to offer money as she had already crossed the customs office.

Meanwhile, DSP NabinBogati of Armed Police Force Office, Rajbiraj, denied the police constable was involved in the case. It was a conspiracy to defame the police, said DSP Bogati. He further claimed that the accusation was completely fallacious.
