Khotang: Police in Khotang interfered in a sit-in staged by locals at the Lalipur-based Road Department demanding early construction of bridges and detained three persons today.

Citing the unusual procrastination in the construction of bridges at Jayaramghat over the Dudhkoshi river and at Phoksingtar over the Sunkoshi river.

A team of locals, including leaders of different political parties had reached the department at about 10:00am for a one hour sit-in.

Police, however, interfered in the protest and arrested three persons, including UML alternative central member Ushakala Rai.

At the sit-in, protesters sought action against the concerned contractors.
