Police make public murder accused trio

Hetauda, December 18

District Police Office, Makawanpur on Friday made public three persons arrested on the charge of murder.

The trio was arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of Megha Bahadur Majhi of Makawanpur, Chhatiwan, five days ago. The arrested are Mehga Bahadur’s brother-in-law Dhan Bahadur Majhi, 44, Dhan Bahadur’s nephew Bhugol Majhai, 23, and Megha Bahadur’s sister Ramila Majhai, 27.

Police said Megha Bahadur might have been killed in an attempt to cover up illicit relationship between Dhan Bahadur and Ramila and to acquire a motorbike and a tractor the former had purchased after receiving Rs 6.1 million in compensation from Nijgadh-Kathmandu Fast Track project.

DSP Sishu Sharma said, “Dhan Bahadur had frequently approached Megh asking for the tractor. He might have killed Megh Bahadur for the tractor in connivance with nephew Bhugol,” DSP Sharma said.

Police said the trio admitted to what police had suspected.

“Dhan Bahadur and his nephew took Megh Bahadur to Chhatiwan forest and stoned him to death,” SP Mira Chaudhary said.
