Police need to be responsible, says Sitaula

Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula today said the police force need to be more responsible to cope with the changed scenario in the country and earn faith of the people.

“The country is in a transitional situation and the police force has a greater role to play to help normalise the situation,” Sitaula said while addressing different functions organised by Nepal Police at the Police Headquarters to mark the 51st anniversary of Nepal Police. He said the government wants to make sure there is no more bloodshed in the country in the future.

“The government is working to sort out the Maoist problem through dialogue with greater understanding,” he said, adding that role of Nepal Police is crucial to normalise the situation and ensure peace and security to hold the election to the constituent assembly in a free and fair manner.

A RSS report said PM Girija Prasad Koirala, in a message to mark the 51st anniversary of Nepal Police, has stressed that the police have to remain alert, vigilant and sensitive in carrying out their duties. “I am confident that Nepal Police will have an important contribution to the building of a new Nepal by maintaining peace in the country and winning people’s trust and compliments,” the message read.
