Police posts to be re-established later

Pokhara, January 5:

The Kaski district administration has decided not to re-establish the displaced police posts in the district until the promulgation of the interim constitution.

A meeting among leaders of the seven parties, which was held yesterday and attended by Chief District Officer (CDO) Bimal Prasad Dhakal, took the decision.

CDO Dhakal said, “The agreement was reached after the Maoists said they would allow a mobile police team for the security of the VDC secretaries who would prepare for the constituent assembly polls. The Maoists said there would be no problem in the re-establishment of displaced police posts after the promulgation of the interim constitution.”

The Maoists’ Kaski district secretary Karan said displaced police posts would be re-established after the promulgation of the interim constitution.

Kaski Nepali Congress president Yagya Bahadur Thapa said, “A mobile police team will provide security to the VDC secretaries going to the rural areas.” Kaski CPN-UML district secretary Rabindra Adhikari said, “An agreement has been reached to reinstate the displaced police posts immediately after the promulgation of the interim constitution.”
