Biratnagar, August 6

Police have seized a huge cache of illegal homemade liquor produced at Bakhari tole of Biratnagar metropolis in Morang.

A police team deployed from Morang District Police Office, today seized 4,465 litres of  homemade liquor from seven houses in Bakhari.

This is the first case in which Morang police have launched a search campaign and seized a huge amount of liquor from the metropolis.

The team led by DSP Raj Kumar Khaiju of Morang DPO seized two drums each of 400 litres, 3,840 litres hooch from 64 drums and 225 litres from 15 drums. The team also seized 48 liquor making pots and two stoves. The liquor producers along with the house owners fled the scene as the police team reached the locality.

The police team broke the padlocks in the houses and seized the illegal hooch.

DSP Khaiju said the house owners fled the scene abandoning their children in the houses.
