Police have seized a vehicle carrying illegally imported broiler chickens in Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality of Rautahat.
Acting on a tip-off from the Rautahat Poultry Entrepreneurs' Association, a team from the Area Police Office, Ganga Pipara, intercepted the vehicle along the Gaur–Ganga Pipara road section at Matsari.
The Bolero pickup (Na 5 Cha 3565), heading north from the southern border, was stopped at around 6:40 am on Monday. Police recovered 350 broiler chickens weighing approximately 750 kg, which were reportedly smuggled into Nepal through illegal routes.
According to police, the consignment had originated from Muskan Poultry Farm in Rajpur Municipality-5 and was being transported to Garuda Municipality-9.
The driver, identified as 26-year-old Anwarul Haque of Garuda Municipality-9, along with the seized poultry, has been handed over to the District Police Office, Gaur, for further investigation and necessary action.
