Continuous rainfall has triggered landslides and flooding, disrupting traffic on several major highways and roads across the country, with some routes completely blocked and others subject to nighttime travel restrictions.
According to the Nepal Police's road update as of 6:00 am on Sunday, vehicle movement on the BP Highway's Khurkot–Nepalthok–Katunjebensi section has been prohibited from 6:00 pm to 4:00 am due to flood risks. Nighttime travel has also been suspended on the Kanti Highway between 5:00 pm and 5:00 am.
The Mechi Highway at Ilam Municipality-9 has been closed after rainfall turned the road muddy and unsafe for traffic.
Several roads remain completely blocked by landslides and river erosion. These include the Araniko Highway at Jirokilo and Kodari in Sindhupalchok's Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, the Lamosangu–Ramechhap road at Kirnetar in Dolakha after erosion by the Tamakoshi River, the Khalte–Pasang Lhamu road in Rasuwa after damage caused by the Trishuli River, and the Larke–Benighat road in Gorkha, which has been blocked by a landslide.
Authorities have urged travellers to check the latest road conditions with relevant agencies and exercise caution, warning that the ongoing monsoon continues to increase the risk of landslides, flooding and road damage.
