Parties extend support
KATHMANDU: Political parties have extended support to rescue and relief works in the aftermath of the disaster in Bara and Parsa last evening.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced in a Twitter post that lawmakers representing the ruling Nepal Communist Party would contribute amounts equivalent to their one-day salary to the Prime Minister Natural Disaster Relief Fund. The party also appealed to all its workers and members to get involved in rescue and relief work.
The Nepali Congress announced its lawmakers would donate their two-day salary for relief and rescue operations. NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba requested the government to take prompt measures for rescue and treatment for those injured, and to provide relief and compensation to the families of the deceased. He appealed to all NC members, including sister organisations, to be involved in rescue efforts.
Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal announced contribution of Rs 500,000 for relief and rescue work. The party also directed its members to raise additional funds.
The Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal, which leads the Province 2 government, directed the latter to ensure food and shelter to those rendered homeless. It also directed the provincial government to address the problem of shortage of blood, medicine and medical workers to ensure effective treatment to those injured. It appealed to all party workers to be involved in rescue and relief work.
