Politicians turn into hoteliers

With the political instability rising in the country and security scenario worsening in the villages, many district-level politicians here have turned themselves into hotel entrepreneurs at the district headquarters.

Those quitting politics and engaging in hotel business said that they had to resort to this as the situation is unfavourable for them to return to the villages and claimed that the hotel business is a good way to keep contacts intact.

Dhanendra Maden, an ex-DDC member, opted for hotel business after he felt that he would not be financially sound with it. He said, "Income in hotel business is good and no one can blame us corruption in this business."

Maden has started Mechi Guest House at the headquarters. Similarly, Bhishma Thebe, ex-VDC chairman of Sinam, has also been running Unique Restaurant in Birtamod. Dal Kumar Gurung,

local UML cadre, Ambar Gurung, ex-vice-chairman of Dokhu VDC and Chandra Prakash Bhattarai, district chairman of ANNFSU have also engaged themselves in hotel business.
