Poll fever picks up in Bara

Bara, August 9

As the government makes final preparations for the third phase of civic polls slated for September 18 in Province 2, political parties have stepped up poll-related activities in Bara.

CPN-UML, Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Centre, Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal, among others, have launched election-related activities. They are busy with meetings, training programmes, welcoming new entrants into the party and other activities.

CPN-UML has been more active than other parties. The party is organising programmes almost every day. UML Central leaders have descended on the district.

UML Bara’s organisational Chief Krishna Paudel said that his party had been running programmes in 15 districts of the Tarai. He claimed that his party would clinch victory in 12 local bodies, including Jitpursimara and Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City in Bara. He said that the party was in the last stage of finalising candidates for the polls.

Nepali Congress leader Lokesh Singh said that his party had finalised candidates in 11 local levels. CPN-Maoist Centre had finalised candidates two months ago in the district. The party is devising its strategy to win all 15 local levels. Maoist Centre leader Rajan Paudel said that his party was preparing for polls in a different style.

Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal is also busy preparing for the polls. Bara Federal Socialist Forum Chair Rambabau Yadav said his party was preparing to hold training for local leaders and cadres in the presence of central leaders.
