Poll preparations in final stage: EC

Biratnagar, June 12

Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav today said preparations for the second phase of local level elections slated for June 28 had reached the final stage.

Stating that poll preparations were in the final stage, CEC Yadav said there was no possibility of deferring the poll date while talking to journalists in Biratnagar today.

Chief Election Commissioner Yadav made it clear that there was no possibility of postponing the polls date a day after the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Development Bijay Kumar Gachhadar said the poll date in province 2 could be postponed to satisfy the leaders of Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal yesterday.

“There won’t be third phase of elections in the country. The date for the election will not be deferred, either,” said EC Chief Yadav. He said that as there was security challenge in the Tarai districts, the government was managing security accordingly by identifying the levels of sensitivity. Hinting at the agitating Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal, Yadav, said election would not be affected even if one/two forces didn’t take part.

Meanwhile, Yadav, urged all the public to be confident about the polls.
