Dharan, January 17:

President of Nepali Congress Girija Prasad Koirala today said the statements of Prime Minister Deuba on holding elections amounted to a conspiracy.

Addressing a meeting of four agitating parties in Itahari, Koirala said, “The government is trying to hatch another conspiracy by talking about polls, which should be an open secret to all.”

“Singing the tune of elections, the PM is just trying to extend his tenure.”

Reacting to Deuba’s comment that ‘the government would announce poll dates only after consultation with the King,’ Koirala said, “The King is also a part of the conspiracy.”

“How can the PM hold the elections between the two guns?” Koirala asked, adding, “In case elections are held, the country will see more bloodshed.”

He also accused the government of not being serious enough to hold peace talks with the Maoists. Claiming that the King, political parties and the Maoists are not able to solve the crisis and international help is needed to solve it, Koirala said, “That’s why I have started consultations with the USA, the UK, China and European countries.”

“I had suggested the same to the king while he was preparing to visit India but he did not reply” Koirala claimed.
