Power-seizure threat an irresponsible act: Acharya

Palpa, February 15:

Nepali Congress leader Mahesh Acharya today termed the Maoist leaders’ recent statements of seizing power as ‘irresponsible act’.

Speaking at an interaction organised by the Palpa district chapter of Reporters’ Club in Tansen today, Acharya said such statement only disrupted the atmosphere of agreement and understanding.

Saying that taking the peace process to a logical conclusion and drafting a new constitution are the main tasks of the government, he said it did not matter who lead the government. “The problems that the nation is currently facing can only be resolved if the policy of agreement and understanding were adopted. The coalition partners should change their attitude and promote agreement and understanding among them,” he added. He also said the press freedom was being curtailed under different pretexts. Acharya said industrialists were not investing here because of the lack of clear policy. “The present energy crisis can only be solved if there is investment-friendly environment in the country,” he added.
