Prachanda asks VP to resign
RUPANDEHI: Chairman of main opposition UCPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' advised Vice President Paramananda Jha to step down from his post.
Expressing disagreement over the Supreme Court's order slapped on the VP to take fresh oath in Nepali, Prachanda said, "The court can't impose such language provision since it's a sensitive issue. Hence, I suggest the VP Jha to resign from his post."
In a press conference organised by the Maoist-affiliated Revolutionary Journalist Organisation of Abadh State Committee here in Butwal today, the Maoist supremo said, "The VP should follow our footsteps like the way we earlier exemplified by giving resignation."
He also expressed concern over the arrest of Maoist PLA combatants with weapons in Kapilvastu district. He smelt conspiracy against the peace process. According to him, the PLA combatants wielded with weapons have been used for escorting from the past three years.
“I can't understand why the issue has been blown out of proportion now although the PLA combatants had been used in such a manner while I had gone to address a programme in Dharan of Sunsari some time ago.”
When asked whether the PLA combatants' arrival in public with weapons was against the peace accord, Prachanda said it would be answered by the UNMIN.
Claiming that the present political condition would get outlet in case the Sankalpa Prastav got registered in the parliament by the Maoist, he said, "There might be the next political equation and the attempt for this is heading towards positive path."
Prachanda even claimed that some fringe parties in the collation are positive towards the Maoist's proposal of Sankalpa Prastav.
He said that attempts to reach an agreement with NC president Girija Prasad Koirala and UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal were underway.
"We're working for consensus about the president's move and civil supremacy with the leaders of other parties," he said.
"Still, we have nine months remaining. Completion of writing the constitution is possible in case the issues put forth by the Maoist were given a heed,” he claimed. Prachanda, however, warned that they would have no alternative but to revolt in case no agreement could be reached for taking the peace process to its logical end, writing the constitution on time and formation of national government.
‘Maoist-led national govt by Tihar’
NAWALPARASI: Chairman of Unified CPN-Maoist, Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday said the middle of Dashain and Tihar would see a national government led by the Maoists coming back to power in the country.
Talking to the reporters at a tea-stop, after returning from an assembly of his party activists in Kawasoti and Butwal, Prachanda said,"This government will prove short-lived and its days are numbered as it is led by those who are denied by Nepali people."
The Maoist stalwart, who is currently on a whirlwind tour of the country - as part of the party policy - claimed that drafting of the constitution and the peace process would not reach a logical conclusion without the government led by the Maoist.
He said that he was on a tour with the objective of maintaining civil supremacy since the other political parties have pulled him out of power.
Prachanda was accompanied by the Maoist leaders - Mohan Baidhya, Baburam Bhattarai, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Ram Bahadur Thapa and CP Gajurel.
