Prachanda warns of rebellion

Lalitpur, February 16:

Maoist chairman Prachanda said today that they will launch a “people’s rebellion” if attempts

are made to prevent transformation of the country.

The CPN (Maoist), which was waging an armed struggle to take over the state, has adopted politics of competition through a peaceful process, said Prachanda, terming this transformation an exemplary incident. He accused political parties of coming in the way of change.

Speaking at a programme on Present situation of the country and future roadmap, organised by the Political Science Students’ Association, Prachanda said it is essential for the Maoists to emerge victorious in the Constituent Assembly (CA) election to bring about complete changes in the country.

Minor changes will not be enough, he said, adding the Maoists’ victory, which is inevitable, will dismantle the relation of feudal capital, political and social structure.

Pointing at the struggle in the Tarai, Prachanda said royalists and foreign nations are active there.

Chairman Prachanda also claimed that the election could be easily held in the Tarai if seven political parties and the government presented themselves in a responsible manner. The Maoist party is more democratic and united in comparison to other political parties in the country, he said.

Stating that the YCL is a military organisation, Prachanda said the organisation was formed to transform the People’s Militia formed during the armed struggle into a political organisation.

New Nepal cannot be created if political and economic revolutions do not go together, Prachanda said, adding that he and his party have a strategy that will bring about complete changes in Nepal within 20 years.
