Pradesh demarcation after constitution: Oli

JHAPA, July 20

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli on Sunday said that they would begin the geographical demarcation of pradeshes only after promulgating the new statute.

Addressing a function organised to collect feedback on the draft constitution in Damak of Jhapa on Sunday, Oli said the new parliament to be formed after nullification of the present CA with the promulgation of the new statute will endorse the geographical demarcation, proposed by the territory fixation committee.

“Though we were in a bid to settle the territory dispute before the delivery of the constitution, it was postponed as there was slim chance of consensus among leaders,” he said.

Oli termed the 16-point agreement among the four major forces as a historical achievement. The draft of the new statute was based on the same consensus, he said. He also assured that people’s suggestions would be incorporated in the constitution. “The constitution will ensure equal rights, equal opportunity, security, humanity and dignity of the individual,” said Oli.

Meanwhile, Limbuwan activists shouted  slogans outside the programme hall when Oli was addressing the programme. Police arrested two persons on the charge of indecent activities.
