Bajura, June 20
A pregnant woman of Swamikartik Rural Municipality was rescued in a chartered helicopter from Bajura today.
Rajani BK, 22, of the rural municipality was admitted to Bajura District Hospital following labour pain on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Social Development of Sudurpashchim Province chartered a chopper after she could not deliver the baby in the district hospital.
Bajura District Public Health Office Chief Ashok Singh said Rajani was airlifted with the help of the ministry to a Nepalgunj-based hospital.
“She was referred to a Nepalgunj-based health facility due to complications during delivery,” he added.
Meanwhile, the ministry’s Public Health Officer Ramesh Kunwar said that after receiving information from Bajura, they had sent the helicopter immediately to rescue her.
Earlier, the ministry had rescued six women, including pregnant ones, via charter flights. The ministry has adopted the policy of airlifting people of far-flung and hilly districts if they face the fatal health problems.
