There are preparations to expand border outreach posts of Armed Police Force along the Nepal-India border in Kailali.

According to Dhangadi-based APF Nepal 34 battalion headquarters Kailali Chief SP Kamal Tiusina, there are preparations to install a BOP at a 10-km distance on the border.

“As per our plan to expand BOPs, we’re searching for land to site such posts in six places for now, namely, Bangara Katan, Jugeda, Khonapur, Bhuiyaphanta, Hikmatpur and Shreelanka Tapu,” Tiusina said.

As for Bhuiyaphanta, efforts are on to instal a BOP in an old school building, now vacant, with the coordination and support of Dhangadi sub-metropolis and the locals.

The recent initiative to expand BOPs is said to have to do with the India’s act of publishing its new territorial map by incorporating Nepali territories.

As per the data provided by APF Nepal 34 battalion headquarters Kailali, 13 of 53 main border pillars and 54 of 229 border pillars from Shreelanka Tapu to Paschim Doke Bazaar on the border are missing in the district.

While 39 main pillars are in good condition, one is in need of repair.

Earlier, a joint border survey team had constructed seven main border pillars and repaired nine others. Similarly, 25 secondary pillars were repaired and 41 were built anew at places where they were missing.
