Hours after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli failed to secure enough numbers in the House of Representatives to win the vote-of-confidence motion, President Bidya Devi Bhandari has called on parties to form a majority government by Thursday.

She has allotted the parties three days' time, asking them to present their claim to the government by 9:00 pm on Thursday.
The Office of the President, in a statement issued today, said President Bhandari has decided to call on parties to form a majority government pursuant to Article 76 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stood a floor test on Monday, wherein he could not garner adequate votes to continue with his government. His government's status, as such, has been reduced to the status of a caretaker government following the loss at House.
