President hopes Women's Day helps materialise women empowerment

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said Nepal's constitution has fully advocated for women's empowerment.

At a programme organised to exchange greetings on the occasion of the International Women's Day at her residence in Shitalniwas, Tuesday, President Bhandari hoped that the International Women's Day would inspire everyone and help materialise the slogan of women's empowerment.

"Following 1990, efforts are on to implement various international instruments on women's rights and empowerment," she added.

UN has declared “March 8” as the International Women's Day, and celebrated throughout the world by organizing various programme to mark the day.

On the occasion, President’s best wishes message was read out by Bhupendra Prasad Poudel, secretary at President’s Office.

Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Deputy Prime minister, Ministers, head of constitutional bodies, chiefs and representatives of diplomatic missions, journalists, artistes and social activists were present during the function.
