KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 4
Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi held a meeting with President of Nepal Ramchandra Paudel in Tokyo on Tuesday evening during the latter's official working visit to Japan.
The meeting, which began at 6:40 pm and lasted for about 20 minutes, focused on strengthening bilateral relations as the two countries mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties this year, according to Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Welcoming President Paudel, Prime Minister Takaichi said Japan was keen to further deepen relations with Nepal on the milestone occasion. In response, President Paudel thanked the Japanese government for the warm reception and expressed his commitment to expanding the long-standing friendship between the two countries across multiple sectors.
Prime Minister Takaichi noted that Japan and Nepal share friendly relations grounded in decades of people-to-people exchanges, including student and mountaineering exchanges. President Paudel welcomed efforts to further promote such exchanges.
Highlighting regional stability, Prime Minister Takaichi said Nepal's stability is important for regional peace and emphasized the importance of conducting Nepal's general election scheduled for March 5 in a free, fair, and inclusive manner. She also reaffirmed Japan's continued support for democratic consolidation and development in Nepal.
President Paudel expressed gratitude for the longstanding support and cooperation extended by the people of Japan toward Nepal's stability and development.
