President Woman Empowerment Programme in the offing in Kapilvastu

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare will launch the President Woman Empowerment Programme on March 6 from Kapilvastu.

The programme aims to provide skills to women for income generation and link them to productivity, market and employment schemes.

The Ministry's Secretary Bishnu Prasad Lamsal said the violence against women (VAW) could be eliminated by empowering the women on the economic front.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari is set to launch the programme, which is expected to generate employment for around 4,000 women annually. As many as 20,000 women would benefit from the programme in five years.

The Ministry also plans to establish at least one elderly-friendly home and a children's park in every province.
