KATHMANDU, MAY 15

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has expressed her best wishes for happiness, peace and prosperity to all Nepali brothers and sisters at home and abroad on the occasion of the 2,566th birth anniversary of Gautam Buddha, the propounder of Buddhist philosophy and the pioneer of world peace.

In her message, the president has said it was a matter of pride for all of us that Nepal is the birthplace of the great Gautam Buddha.

The president said that if we could imbibe the teachings and guidelines of the apostle of peace, Gautam Buddha, we would be able to consolidate our national unity and help promote world peace by enhancing the spirit of mutual goodwill, tolerance and brotherhood among cultural and social diversity.

Likewise, the president has stated that the concerned side should pay heed to the appropriate development and conservation of cultural and archaeological sites related to Buddhist religion across the country.

Meanwhile, president Bhandari has given a message of best wishes to all Nepalis for building a prosperous, equitable, civilised and cultured society on the occasion of Ubhauli Festival mainly celebrated by the Kirant community.
