President Bidhya Devi Bhadari participated in different programmes in Lumbini and Kapilvastu today. President Bhandari flew to these places today.
In Kapilvastu, she visited Nandanagar Dham located in Banaganga Municipality-2 and inaugurated a mahayagya.
While speaking during the inauguration, she assured that the state would take necessary steps for the protection and spread of religion and culture.
On the occasion, the mahayagya organising main committee coordinator Balaram Gyawali said the entire district was happy to welcome the president at the religious site and the mahayagya. "The mahayagya was organised with a view to promoting religious tourism as well as supporting a local Sanskrit school being run under the gurukul system," he said.
In Lumbini, Lord Buddha's birthplace, Bhandari attended a conference organised by Lumbini Buddhist University.
At the conference, she underscored the need to move ahead in the path of development and prosperity by protecting the religions of the state and the Churiya range.
Many Buddhist scholars and researchers are participating in the conference.
