President Bidhya Devi Bhandari today stressed the need to provide quality health services to the general public in an easy and cost-effective manner.
The head-of-state called on the federal government, province government and local bodies to collaborate with each other to deliver quality and cost-effective health services to the common people.
While inaugurating the newly-constructed building of Hetauda Hospital today run by Madan Bhandari Academy of Health Sciences, Bhandari urged the Academy to be honest and sincere in providing health services to the general public and upgrading skilled human resources.
Noting that the constitution had guaranteed health services as a fundamental right, President Bhandari requested the province government and local bodies to engage in research-oriented activities and produce capable human resources in the health sector.
Bhandari also said the Academy should move ahead with a new strategy to make people trust the treatment provided in the country and pointed out the need for specialists in the health sector to engage in the task of bringing diseases under control on time as different diseases like dengue and cholera have posed new health challenges in the country.
President Bhandari lauded Bagmati Province government for bringing Hetauda Hospital under the Academy on 23 September 2019 after passing the Madan Bhandari Academy of Health Sciences Act and working to provide quality health services to the general public.
Bagmati Province Chief Minister Shalikram Jamakattel said the province government, during its first tenure had endorsed the Madan Bhandari Academy of Health Sciences Act, 2018, upgraded the Hetauda-based District Hospital and brought it under the Academy.
