Condemns Nepal Communist Party (NCP) faction led by Dahal and Nepal for offering PM's post to 'another party'
KATHMANDU, MARCH 5
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today said that his faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) had not offered premiership to any party and condemned the rival faction led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal for doing so.
Addressing a public programme, along with General Secretary of Communist Party of Nepal Netra Bikram Chand, here today, the PM said the Dahal-Nepal was adamant on unseating their own party's government and offering premiership to another party.
"I heard that the rival faction is holding the parliamentary party's meeting today.
How can they do that? I am the parliamentary party leader and I am here," the PM said.
He claimed that he had recommended dissolution of the House of Representatives as attempts were being made to trigger instability in the country.
Oli said the three-point agreement signed between the government and the Chand-led party would usher an era of peace.
He said that the government had already started the process of releasing leaders and cadres of the Chand-led outfit and it would release more leaders and in the coming days cadres after completing legal procedures.
General Secretary of Communist Party of Nepal Netra Bikram Chand, who had been underground for more than two years, came out of hiding today and addressed a public programme along with PM Oli.
The CPN has expressed its commitment to peaceful politics, whereas the government has expressed its commitment to withdraw cases against CPN cadres and leaders.
Addressing the programme for signing the pact, Chand said his outfit, which did not accept multi-party and parliamentary form of government during the process of drafting the constitution, had decided to pursue their political agenda in a peaceful manner.
He said the goal of social transformation with the objective of empowering poor people and marginalised groups had not been achieved yet and his outfit would work for the same.
He said the people of Nepal should be given a chance to decide what they wanted. He, however, did not say whether he wanted a referendum on the system of government or other things.
Yesterday, the Cabinet had decided to lift ban on the Chand-led outfit, which had been indulging in violent activities.
