Prithvi Subba Gurung unanimously elected UML PP leader of Province 4

POKHARA: The CPN-UML leader Prithvi Subba Gurung has been unanimously elected as the parliamentary party leader of Province 4 on Sunday.

Gurung is a member of the provincial parliament from Lamjung and currently serves as central secretary of UML.

Leader Gurung was unanimously elected to the post after another aspirant Kiran Gurung proposed his name.

Provincial Assembly member Kiran Gurung said, "For leftist broader unification and being a party's coordinator of Province 4, I initiated to forge consensus to unanimously elect Prithvi Gurung as PP leader."

"It would have been inappropriate to go for elections as it might bring fraction within the party at a crucial time when the unification process is moving ahead swiftly," Kiran Gurung shared.

Speaking to media after being elected UML PP leader, Prithvi Subba Gurung reiterated to lead Province 4 towards prosperity. "If we fail to expedite developmental goals, we will fall behind. We have to leapfrog China and Singapore in terms of development," Gurung added.

Parliament members Rabindra Adhikari, Khagraj Adhikari, UML Central Election Commission chairman Somnath Adhikari, Pyasi, along with other provincial assembly members forged consensus to unanimously elect Subba as PP leader today.
