Probe sought into girl’s death

Nawalparasi, May 21

Security personnel baton-charged and fired tear gas shells at locals who were staging protest demanding fair investigation into the death of a teenage girl at Kawasoti Area Police Office in Nawalparasi today.

The kin of 16-year-old Rabina Aryal of Danda 15 had reached the police office demanding fair probe into the incident saying that it was murder not suicide. Aryal was found hanging at her house on Wednesday. As she was bleeding from the nose and there were bruises all over her body, including her face, the locals suspected that her father Tulasi Aryal and stepmother had murdered her.

“The locals have warned of launching an agitation,” said Nawalpur Chambers of Commerce and Industries President Om Prakash Poudel.

According to Sharmila Giri, one of the protesters, the post-mortem was conducted at Bharatpur Hospital after the Primary Health Centre in Chormara and Dumkauli refused to do so.
