Probe team in Saptari to investigate murder
Rajbiraj, July 9
A high-level probe commission formed to investigate the murder of Jitendra Narayan Dev during the Tarai agitation in Saptari, visited the incident site today.
Dev, 30, of Rajbiraj Municipality was kidnapped, tortured brutally and subsequently murdered on October 17, 2015. His body was found at Koshi Canal of Barahi-Birpur in Saptari three days later. Dev’s body had received deep cuts on the head, cheeks and other body parts. Both his ears were severed.
The investigation team led by the commission’s chair and former Supreme Court judge Girish Chandra Lal took stock of the incident during its field inspection.
After the inspection of the incident site, the probe team met with the victim’s parents in Rajbiraj and expressed sympathy to them.
Dev’s parents put forth a charter of demands including stern punishment for the culprits, martyr’s status for the deceased and compensation to family members. Lal pledged to provide justice to the victim after investigation.
