Property worth millions looted at gunpoint

Siraha, January 6

A gang of thieves looted property worth millions at gunpoint in Betauna of Golbazaar Municipality, Siraha, last night.

A band of armed robbers barged into the houses of locals Jhagadu Mandal, Ramprit Mukhiya, Rajeswor Thakur and Saryug Yadav and made off with gold, cash, silver and mobile phones worth millions.

According to local Rambilash Mukhiya, the robbers looted Rs 30,000 cash, more than three tola gold, 20 tola silver, one television set and two mobile phones after pointing a gun to Mandal’s daughter-in-law. The victim’s family said the dacoits threatened to kill them and looted cash and other valuables at gunpoint. Similarly, cash, mobile sets and some gold were looted from houses of Mukhiya and Yadav.

Inspector Nabin Kumar Ghimire of Golbazaar Area Police Office said an investigation into the incident had been launched.Likewise, property worth millions, including gold, silver, television and cash were looted from nine houses at Labakatole of Kalyanpur Municipality, Siraha, last night. Police are investigating the incident.
