Property worth over Rs 1.4 million looted in Bhaktapur

BHAKTAPUR: A masked armed group comprising 10 people took a family under control at gunpoint, and looted property worth more than Rs 1.4 million at Bhaktapur Suryabinayak Municipality-7 early Wednesday morning.

The group jumped the compound walls of the house of poultry entrepreneur Ram Bahadur Tamang at around 2:30 am, and barged into his house by smashing a glass window of the main entrance to the house, according to preliminary investigation of police.

The looters tied all 10 members of the family before decamping with 10 mobile phones, a motorcycle, around 18 tolas of gold jewellery, more than Rs 150,000 cash, said the police.

Police have started investigation into the case, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishna Prasain, adding that a search has been launched for the looters.
