Protesters attack escorting police in Rupandehi
KATHMANDU: Protesters associated with the United Democratic Madhesi Front on Tuesday attacked security personnel who were escorting trucks to their destinations in Bethari of Rupandehi today.
Following the attack, police and protesters clashed, according to the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS).
The clash ensued after the protesters pelted stones at a truck being taken to its destination from the Bethari Area Police Post, the RSS added.
Chief of the Rupandehi District Police Office, Rajendra Dhakal, said around half dozen trucks sustained damages in the attack.
Meanwhile, few protesters sustained injuries while police opened fires in the air.
