BIRJUNG: The District Security Committee of Parsa on Friday decided to recommend the government to declare the people who lost their lives during protests in the district martyrs.

Five protesters were killed in police action during violent demonstrations in Birgunj earlier this week.

The ones recommended for martyrdom are Deepak Chaurasiya, Dharma Raj Singh, Dinanath Sah, Jay Prakash Shah Teli and Sohan Sah.

The meeting of Security Committee, chaired by Chief District Officer Keshav Raj Ghimire, decided to bear expenses of treatment of the injured and provide relief to the families of the deceased, according to Deputy CDO Anuj Bhandari.

The District Administration Office has already forwarded the recommendation to the Ministry of Home Affairs for further decision.

The local administration would immediately provide financial assistance to the bereaved families for carrying out the last rites of the deceased.
