DHANGADHI: A cabinet meeting of province 7 held on Wednesday has decided to request central government to resolve border dispute between Nepal and India at Punarbas Municipality in Kanchanpur and other areas.

The meeting held at Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers has decided to ask the central government to take diplomatic measures to solve border disputes.

Likewise, the cabinet has agreed to request the  central government to extend the tenure of a joint survey team of India and Nepal formed to solve border disputes, Province 7 Spokesperson and Internal affairs and Law Minister Prakash Bahadur Shah said. The provincial cabinet has decided to take this step in the backdrop of a recent dispute which occurred at Punarbas in Kanchanpur.

Few days ago, a dispute emerged after the Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB), the Indian border security force, obstructed the construction of fence meant to forbid wildlife of Dudhwa National Park in India from entering Nepal.

Similarly, a Nepali national, Govinda Gautam (29) had lost his life in the border dispute after SSB opened fire in Kargildanda area of Punarbas in Kanchanpur district, near the Nepal-India border, a year ago.
