Province 4 CM Gurung to win vote of confidence today
POKHARA: Chief Minister of Province 4 Prithivi Subba Gurung is scheduled to get the vote of confidence from the State Assembly (SA) today.
Gurung is to secure the vote of confidence from today's SA meeting, which is in line with Article 168 (4) of the new constitution, provisioning that newly appointed provincial CM will have to win the vote of confidence from federal parliament within 30 days of appointment, said Secretary of SA Secretariat Shambhu Khadka.
Gurung, a CPN-UML parliamentary party leader, was appointed the province CM on March 29.
Gurung will propose for securing the vote of confidence at the SA meeting. Following this, each SA member from five different political parties will deliberate on the proposal, and thereafter CM Gurung will answer to queries raised, which will lead to the division of votes.
Gurung has to secure 31 votes to get the vote of confidence, out of the total votes of 60 SA members of the province. Of the total SA members, the ruling UML has 27 and the CPN Maoist Centre 12.
Given the majority of the left alliance in the SA, Gurung who is backed by the coalition will easily win the vote of confidence.
