‘Provinces not getting rights’

Dhangadi, May 17

Province 7 Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Jhapat Bahadur Bohara today said there were rifts between federal and province government on delegating rights and utilising them.

Speaking on economic development and prosperity of Province 7 in Kailali today, Minister Bohara stated there was wide rift between the two governments regarding delegation of rights and their utilisation and he urged such rifts be settled at the earliest.

He said the federal government needed to support the provincial government through allocation of budget for the provincial government. He argued the federal government was not flexible in devolving power to provinces and letting them operate independently.

Minister Bohara accused federal ministries of trying to keep the main bodies under their control. “If all the rights and powers are kept at the centre, what is the use of federalism in the country?” he said.
