Public vehicles resume services in Pokhara
Pokhara, February 18
Public transport services resumed in Pokhara this evening following an agreement between transport entrepreneurs and the district administration.
An all-party meeting was held under the coordination of Chief District Officer Hari Prasad Mainali to resolve the row over the route permit granted to a new transport committee today.
As per the agreement, three of the buses belonging to the new committee will be allowed to operate in the city area. Similarly, the meeting also decided to form a task force to study whether more public vehicles should be allowed to operate in the Lake City.
Public transport services resumed in the city after representatives of Pokhara Bus Entrepreneurs Committee and Bidhyabasini Bus Entrepreneurs Committee signed the agreement.
“The problem has been solved for now following a two-point agreement, which also envisions formation of an experts’ team to study whether new buses should be allowed to operate in the Lake City. The committee will submit its report within three months,” said Mainali.
The three vehicles of Bindhyabasini committee are operating in the city under police protection.
