KATHMANDU: The CPN Maoist Centre today directed all its lawmakers to support the impeachment motion filed in the Legislature-Parliament against the chief of Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Lok Man Singh Karki.

In a meeting of the party’s Parliamentary Party held at the Legislature-Parliament building in New Baneshwar, party Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal asked the Maoist lawmakers to back the impeachment motion.

Dahal argued that the impeachment motion against Karki was filed legally, according to Maoist leader Agni Sapkota.

Dahal told the meeting that he had held consultations with leaders of various political parties including Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba on the matter before making this move.

Earlier on Saturday, a meeting of the party’s Central Office held at the party chairman’s personal residence in Lazimpat had authorised Dahal to take an appropriate decision over the impeachment motion against Karki.
