Maoist Centre authorises Dahal for impeachment decision

KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN Maoist Centre has authorised its Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to take an appropriate decision on behalf of the party regarding the impeachment motion against the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Chief Lok Man Singh Karki.

A meeting of the party's Central Office held at Dahal's residence in Baluwatar took a decision to this effect, according to a statement issued by Dahal's Secretariat.

The party has also told Dahal to hold necessary discussions with other parties over the issue, according to party spokesperson Pampha Bhusal.

Around 50 lawmakers of the Maoist party had also signed the impeachment motion registered on Wednesday whereas most of the signatories were of the main opposition CPN-UML.

While the UML has already decided to support the motion, the largest force in the Parliament, Nepali Congress, is still undecided and apparently divided over the issue.
