KATHMANDU, JANUARY 20

President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, has filed his candidacy from Chitwan's constituency no. 2 for the upcoming House of Representatives election.

According to Assistant Election Officer Deviram Bhandari, Lamichhane submitted his nomination through his authorized representative, Sita Gyawali, on Tuesday.

Leader Bikram Shrestha proposed Lamichhane's candidacy, which was seconded by Ramaji Thakuri. Lamichhane was unable to attend the election office in person due to his busy schedule at the District Court in Parsa, where he is facing a case of cooperative fraud.

Other candidates who have filed nominations from Chitwan–2 include Mina Kharel of the Nepali Congress, Ashwin Ghimire of CPN (UML), Pratap Gurung of the Nepali Communist Party, Dev Prasad Gurung of the Nepali Congress, Shankar Raj Thapaliya of CPN (UML), Renu Dahal of the Nepali Communist Party, and Sobita Gautam of the RSP.

From Chitwan–1, candidates filing nominations include Rajendra Prasad Burlakoti of the Nepali Congress, Dorje Lama of CPN (UML), Dr. Krishna Raj Pant of the Nepali Communist Party, and Hari Dhakal of the RSP.

The district, which comprises three constituencies, has 442,082 registered voters on its electoral roll.
