Rabid dog menace in Gaighat village

UDAYAPUR: A woman was killed amid a menace caused by a rabid dog at Bokse and surrounding areas of Triyuga Municipality-1 in Udayapur on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as local Manasari Rai (70), informed the Udayapur District Police Office. Another 10-year-old Rejina Rai was injured due to the same, police added.

Likewise, a cow died after being bitten by the dog on Monday, owner Raj Kumar Rai said.

Without realising, Rai sold the milk of the infected cow and it has created fear of contracting rabies among the locals who consumed it.

Police said the dog that bit the cow is also dead.

Those at risk of contracting rabies have been administered anti-rabies vaccination by a doctors' team from the District Hospital, the District Police Office Chief Nar Bahadur KC informed.

In the meantime, police have launched a campaign to kill the street dogs at risk of contracting rabies.
