KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 20

Purna Bahadur Rai won the second edition title of the Surya Nepal Gokarna Monthly Medal here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

Played under stroke play full handicap format, Rai finished first on count back after he was tied on four-under 68 with Babu Sherpa in the nett category.

Sherpa finished runner-up, while Robin Rana was third with the score of three-under 69. Surendra Phuyal won the gross section award with the score of three-over 75.

A total of 51 golfers took part in the event, sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd. Lady golfer Rekha Ghimire, who is also the wife of Gokarna Golf Club President Suhrid Ghimire, handed over the prizes to the winners. With the win, Rai earned 100 points and shared the lead at the top of the nett category table with Karna B Thapa. Babu Sherpa is at the third place with 80 points, while Dhundul Namgyal and Tendi Sherpa are joint fourth at 60 points. In gross section, today's winner Phuyal joined Vijay Shrestha Einhaus at the top of the standings with 100 points, while Wangchen Dhondup is third with 95 points.

Sadbhav Acharya, who is at the top of the juniors table, is fourth on 60 points, whereas Charlie Gurung and Sam Doublard are joint fifth with 40 points.
